This safari  includes our first stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary to Murchison falls national Park. Which is the world’s most powerful waterfall and is located in North Western part of Uganda having four members of the big five. For example lions, elephants, leopards and buffaloes with other mammal species. Like crocodiles, bush pigs, warthogs, waterbucks alongside bird species like the great blue turaco, giant kingfisher, grey crowned cranes, black bee eater, rare shoebill stork among others.

 

Moving forward, your second destination will be at Kibale forest national park. Which is located in western Uganda in Kabarole district and is known for various primate species with a variety of chimpanzees as well. The park has primates. Like vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkey and olive baboons among others. The park has 120 mammal species including the African elephant, Forest hogs, bush pigs, warthogs, duikers with various birds’ species like blue headed sunbird, kingfisher, tinker bird, grey parrot among others.

 

Furthermore we shall then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national Game Park and it is located in south western Uganda in kasese, rubirizi district. It was established in 1952 having four members of the big five animals like leopards, elephants, lions and buffaloes along with other species like crocodiles, warthogs, bush bucks, bush pigs among others. The park has over 600 bird species including the handsome francolin, grey crowned crane, grey crowned heron, African green pigeon, rare shoebill and others.

 

You will then have a drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park which is located in south western Uganda in kanugu district covering 321 square kilometers. It was established in 1991 and best known for mountain gorillas. These can be done in sectors of rushaga, ruhija, buhoma and Nkuringo. The park has over 350 bird species like handsome francolin, purple sunbird, red headed blue bill, African blue cuckoo, regal sunbird, breasted sunbird, Rwenzori turaco among other bird species.

 

Finally the  The 9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National PAark, Murchison Falls National Park tour will end with a drive to Lake Mburo national park which is located in southern part of Uganda in kiruhura district and was established in 1993. It is home to various animal species like impalas, zebras, hyenas, topis, hippos, leopards and over 350 bird species like the black bellied bustard, bare-faced-go away bird, Ruppel’s starling, African wattled lapwing, pied kingfisher, Malachite kingfisher, Saddle-billed stork, Red-faced barbet, and Yellow-breasted apalis among other bird species.

Detailed itinerary;

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel – Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary

Day 1 of your The 9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park tour will start with a pick up from Entebbe international airport. Or at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala by our professional driver guide from Bonobos African Safari Holidays. You will drive to Murchison falls. To view the roaring rapids of the falls and the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park. You will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, buffalo, and elephants and you will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and the Nile crocodiles. The park has 450 bird species. Including the shoebill stork, dwarf king fisher, the white-thigh hornbill, and the Goliath heron among others. You will make a detour visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will track the rhinos.  Later you will enjoy your lunch then continue to the park. Lastly, check into your accommodation to relax and have dinner plus overnight stay.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park – Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise upstream to the Bottom of the Falls

You will wake up to an early breakfast on day 2 of your 9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park  tour and you will embark on an early morning game drive through different trails of the park. Like Albert trail, buligi trail and the Victoria trail. While here, you will meet eye to eye with different mammal species like Bufaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, bush barks, giraffes, warthogs, Jackson’s hartebeest, , crocodiles, hippos, Uganda kobs  among others. Finally you will return to your lodge for relaxation and lunch.

 

Later in the afternoon, you will embark on an afternoon boat cruise upstream to the bottom of the falls. And it will take about 3 hours. While on the cruise, you will see the Nile crocodiles resting under the shade, herds of hippos while in water, elephants swimming and drinking water at the water banks and also for the bird lovers. Be on the lookout for the different bird species like the shoebill, the black bee eater, grey crowned crane, marabou stork, Malachite kingfisher, Abyssinian ground hornbill.

 

You will have a view of the magnificent Murchison falls as it roars. And pours its waters through an 8m narrow gorge . After the cruise, you will hike to the top of the falls for another breathtaking moment. Take as many pictures as possible to keep you connected and give you beautiful memories of the Pearl of Africa. And then you will return back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Relaxation at your Lodge

Then you will depart for Kibale Forest National Park. Where you will have a lunch stopover in Fort Portal the “Tourism City.” You will later proceed to Kibale. As you enjoy the beautiful views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival at the park, you will check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Tracking – Bigodi Wetland and Community visit – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Upon waking up, you will have a heartwarming breakfast on this day of your  9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park tour you will track the most famous inhabitants of Kibale Forest National Park which are the chimpanzees. Chimpanzees share about 98.8% of human DNA making them our closest living relatives. Moreover the chimpanzee trekking experience here is done on several well maintained walking trails like Kanyachu. There is also a wonderfully diverse concentration of other primates, more than any other forest in East Africa. Besides our delightful cousins the chimpanzees, you will also get to see red-tailed guenon, white-nosed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys, olive baboons, bush babies.

 

You will later have a delicious lunch and then have the opportunity for a guided walk. Through the swamps of Bigodi as well as reaching out to the community and trying their brewed gin. Viewing and buying of various hand crafts and proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park while having an evening game drive.  Furthermore the drive incudes viewing various mammal species like antelopes, leopards, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, civet cats, serval cats among others and bird species like Shoebill, Great Blue Turaco, Gray-crowned crane, Long-Crested Eagle, and Black-and-White-Casqued Hornbill. Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park –  Morning Game drive and afternoon Boat Cruise

Day 5 of your Safari will begin with an early morning breakfast and thereafter you will head out to the jungle to search for the various mammal species. That inhabit Queen Elizabeth National Park like Antelopes, Hippos, bush pigs, sitatungas, topis, bushbucks, cape buffaloes, elephants among others.

After a great time in the jungle, you will return back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. Later in the afternoon proceed for another ultimate experience on the Kazinga channel while cruising.  While on the cruise, you will view the herds of hippos taking in water. Elephants drinking water on the banks of the Kazinga channel, Nile crocodiles resting in the shade at the shores. And also various bird species like the martial eagle, grey crowned crane, African green pigeon, and handsome francolin among other bird species. You will later return back to the lodge for your dinner and also an overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Ishasha sector – Batwa Community Encounter

After a heavy breakfast on day 6 of your 9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park tour, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector which is well-known for its tree-climbing lion population. You will also get to spot other mammal species like hippos, elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. You will have lunch in Kihihi and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is home to the endangered mountain gorillas.

 

Later you will visit the Batwa community. Who were the early inhabitants of the ancient Impenetrable forest before it became a National park and also a UNESCO World heritage site in 1992. And learn about their social ways of life, how they hunt for food in their ancient ways, visit a Batwa homestead to watch how they dance and also hear ancient legends and their folk songs and then you will return back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight.

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Gorilla Trekking

Upon waking up by the beautiful sounds of the birds singing in the sky, you will start your day 7 of your safari with an early morning breakfast. Wear appropriate clothing for the day like a long sleeved shirt, a pair of karky or jean trousers, a round cap, water proof boots. To protect you against the falling tree branches of the Impenetrable forest and also in case of bad weather. Pack some snacks and water to help in keeping you hydrated during the trek.

 

Proceed to the park’s headquarters for a briefing on the Do’s and the Don’ts. While you are with the mountain gorillas, you will also be assigned a park ranger. Who will guide you during the trek and also a gorilla family to look out for and then start the search for the mountain gorillas. Which will take about 1 to 5 hours depending on their location.

 

During your trek, you will encounter various primate species. Like the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey mangabeys, and blue monkeys and also bird species for instance handsome francolin, red headed blue bill, regal sunbird, breasted sunbird. African blue cuckoo, Rwenzori turaco, Shelley’s crimson, purple sunbird among other bird species. On finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend only one hour with them. As you learn about their ways of life, how they feed and take care of their young ones. How they communicate among others. Feel free to ask as many questions as possible about these gorillas and take memorable pictures and then you will return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park – Night Game Drive in the park

After waking up you will have heavy breakfast on your day 8 of your 9 Days Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park tour, you will drive to Lake Mburo National park. Where you will have a hearty lunch. Meanwhile, you will spend the entire afternoon relaxing at the lodge as you await an evening to night game drive. With an armed park ranger and spotlight torches to help you see nocturnals in the night like hyenas, hares, porcupine, honey badgers, white tailed mongoose, jackals, serval cats, bush pigs, civets, galagos, leopards. And also hippos while grazing on short grass. You will then return back to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight.

Then you will proceed for a Nature walk or horse riding. Within the park which will take about 2 to 3 hours. This experience in Lake Mburo national park will take you off the main paths. And you will go deep into the bush trails.  To enjoy the park and see herds of zebras, giraffes, Elands, impalas, buffalos, Defassa waterbucks, oribis, leopards, hippos, hyenas, topis and reedbuck among others.  After this unique experience, you will then drive to Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel.
