Murchison Falls National Park: Commonly known as the nature wonders of Uganda. This is the starting point of the safari, and it promises exciting wildlife encounters. The combination of a game drive and a boat cruise on the Nile River offers an opportunity to see a wide variety of animals. Such as the iconic African Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceros).  Meanwhile, the Murchison Falls is where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and plummets into the Devil’s Cauldron, is a stunning natural spectacle.

Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary is situated approximately 176 kilometers (109 miles) north of the capital city, Kampala, and covers an area of about 7,000 hectares (17,300 acres). It provides a safe and secure environment for the rhinos to thrive and reproduce, as well as promoting education and awareness about rhino conservation.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from entebbe and transfer to Murchison Falls NP with rhino tracking in Zziwa (en- route)

Upon an early arrival in entebbe, you will be received by our assigned driver/guide who will welcome you to Uganda – the Pearl of Africa. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park. The highlights of this park include: the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Then surely you will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and the Nile crocodiles here.
En route take a detour into Zziwa Rhino sanctuary for your first Big 5 experience where you will have an hour of rhino tracking. Another stop will be in Masindi in order to enjoy your lunch. Continue to the park for an evening hike to the top of the falls. The hike may be a strenuous one but the thrill on reaching the top is unforgettable. Head to the Lodge for check in to your accommodation for the overnight.

Day 2: Game drive (AM) and afternoon boat trip to the bottom of the falls

Have your breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park and look out for: lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. For any birder, there are quite a number of birds to sight too during the drive. Head to Red chili hide away for some rest time and lunch.
After lunch you will head out for the boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls where you will also be able to catch sight of more animals including Hippos and Crocodiles and several water birds. Return to your accommodation and have a relaxed evening.

Day 3: Exist Murchison falls transfer to Fort portal and proceed to visit the Amabere ga NyinaMwiru caves

After breakfast embark on a drive to Fort Portal is quite long but greatly scenic as you will be passing through the lush green countryside with hills dotted with forests and plantations of different cash crops. To visit the Amabere Ga NyinaMwiru caves and a small hike to the crater lakes. And proceed to fort portal for the overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Semiliki National Park to visit the Sempaya hot springs

Have your breakfast, Semiliki game reserve crowned with a visit to the Sempaya hot springs, the temperatures of Sempaya hot springs reach up to 130° centigrade located amidst a thick under growth. Thereafter return to the booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning Excursion of the Bigodi Swamp, crater lakes hike (Top of the World)

After breakfast at the accommodation, depart for the Bigodi swamp walk. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a fascinating area, located in Magombe swamp. This area boasts of extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates’ species like the baboon, black & white colobus monkey. The Bigodi is also a paradise for bird watchers. Among the major bird species within the sanctuary is the Great Blue Turaco.

Meet and interact with the “community” local people as you walk through their villages and also visit the banana man where you have a chance to taste and see how local banana beer, banana gin, banana wine and banana juice is made. Have a lunch break, proceed out to explore the crater lakes, crowned with a hike to the “top of the world”. You will enjoy the beauty of the numerous small lakes, surrounded by gentle hills, and the stunning views. Take a hike to Lake Nkuruba where you will encounter different species of primates and birds.
