6 Day Murchison Falls and  Chimpanzee Trekking with Wildlife Safari.  Murchison Falls National Park sits on the shore of Lake Albert, in northwest Uganda. It’s known for Murchison Falls, where the Victoria Nile River surges through a narrow gap over a massive drop. Park wildlife includes elephants and hippos, and there are chimpanzees in the Kaniyo Pabidi mahogany forest. The Lake Albert Delta is home to rare shoebill storks. There are game fish in the cascades of Karuma Falls. You will thereafter move to Kibale and explore animals like  the remarkable common chimpanzee, baboon, red colobus, black and white colobus, L’Hoest’s, red-tailed, vervet, and blue monkeys, and the Uganda mangabey. Expect to encounter human’s closest wild relation, the chimps firsthand. You will be allured by these awesome apes. Finally, move to Queen Elizabeth NP where you can expect a boat trip along the Kazinga means and a game drive.

Murchison falls National Park.

The journey southwards will then take you to Murchison Falls National Park. Murchison Falls National Park commonly known as the nature wonders of Uganda. This is the starting point of the safari, and it promises exciting wildlife encounters. The combination of a game drive and a boat cruise on the Nile River offers an opportunity to see a wide variety of animals. Such as the iconic African Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceros).  Meanwhile, the Murchison Falls is where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and plummets into the Devil’s Cauldron, is a stunning natural spectacle.

Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

The sanctuary is situated approximately 176 kilometers (109 miles) north of the capital city, Kampala, and covers an area of about 7,000 hectares (17,300 acres). It provides a safe and secure environment for the rhinos to thrive and reproduce, as well as promoting education and awareness about rhino conservation.

Kibale Forest National Park:

Specifically known for its remarkable chimpanzee population, Kibale Forest allows visitors to go chimpanzee tracking and observe these primates in their natural habitat. It’s an enriching experience to learn about the behavior of these intelligent creatures and witness their interactions. However you will engage in more exciting activities like the Bigodi wetland swamp walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is a fascinating eco-tourism activity located near Kibale Forest National Park in Uganda.  Furthermore, it is a community-based initiative that offers visitors a chance to explore the unique wetland ecosystem of Bigodi and encounter its diverse flora and fauna.

Queen Elizabeth National Park:

Detailed Itinerary 

Day 1: Travel to  Murchison Falls National Park via Rhino Tracking in Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your safari starts from the hotel or Entebbe Airport where your guide/driver will pick you and hit the road to Murchison Falls National Park. The highlights of this park include the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest national park, Murchison Falls where you will have the chance of viewing lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants.

Then you will be allured by the mass of hippos and the Nile crocodiles here. For birders, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird types including the elusive shoebill stork, dwarf kingfisher, the white-thigh hornbill, and the Goliath heron among others.

Meanwhile, you’ll make a pause at Zziwa Rhino home for your first Big Five meeting where you will have an hour of rhino tracking then for another stop will be in Masindi in order to enjoy your lunch once done, continue to the park and check in to your rooms to relax for the evening.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park – Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise to the top of falls

After an early breakfast, tour the northern section of Murchison with a high mass of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, lions, the leopards plus a variety of bird types then return to your rooms for lunch and then go for a launch trip to the base of the falls cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and many aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls.

While, you will have a chance to take thousands of pictures, so carry your camera with you if you like. Also, you can proceed for a hike to the top of the falls. Similarly, the hike is a hard one but the thrill on reaching the top is unforgettable. Lastly, return to your rooms to relax, and enjoy dinner and your overnight.

Day 3: Depart from Murchison Falls National Park to  Kibale Forest National Park

After break first at your room, drive to the top of the falls (if you didn’t hike yesterday) where you will have amazing views of the falls. If you hiked, you can depart for Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale is highest at the park’s northern tip, which stands 1,590 m above sea level.

The lowest point is 1,100 m on the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley to the south and covers 795 sq. km of beautiful forest. You will have lunch en route. This park is liked for its animals like chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, red-cheeked monkeys and red-tailed monkeys. On your chimpanzee trails, they are regularly seen swinging in the forest trees and others feeding on the wild fruits. On arrival, you will do little but check into your room where you will have dinner and the overnight rest.

Day 4:  Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Community Encounter  then Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today you will meet some serious animals business! Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of animal types in the world such as chimpanzees about 5,000 chimpanzees live in the wild in Uganda which makes it a perfect place to spot them! An experienced ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning.

However the activity begins at 8.00 am with a briefing regarding the rules of walking the chimpanzees. Afterward, you’ll set off to search for them in the forest. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour with them. Then return to the lodge for lunch after which you will head out for Queen Elizabeth National Park.  Finally you will arrive in the evening and have an overnight stay at your booked room

Day 5:  Queen Elizabeth National Park – Morning  Game Drive and Boat Cruise along  Kazinga Channel

On this day, you will have a game drive and launch trip (boat trip) on the Kazinga Channel. Early in the morning, you will go out for a game drive through the park, with fine views of the plains, valleys, terraced hills, and wild animals such as reedbuck, bushbuck, Kobs, warthog, elephant, lion, buffalo, and so much more. Have a break and relax then you will eat lunch at the lodge.

Meanwhile the afternoon tour entitles a launch trip (boat trip) on the Kazinga means a water stream joining Lake Edward and Lake George. The means attracts a large school of hippos and Nile crocodiles, besides the variety of birds that flock the reed shores for instance  the shoebill, pelicans, kingfishers, saddle-billed stork, and sometimes the crowned cranes.  Later return to your rooms in time for your dinner.

Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe Airport

Else, depart for Entebbe straight away after your breakfast. You will be dropped off in Entebbe Airport or taken to your preferred hotel.
