Day 1: Bujumbura – Cyangungu
Following an early morning breakfast, your driver-guide will rendezvous with you at your hotel or residence in Bujumbura. Once you’ve received a comprehensive safari briefing, you will commence your expedition towards the Bugarama border with Rwanda. Upon reaching the lodge, you’ll be assisted with the check-in process, allowing you to rejuvenate and unwind in your rooms before your exciting gorilla adventure unfolds.

Day 2: Kahuzi Biega National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you’ll proceed to cross the border at Ruzizi, entering the Democratic Republic of Congo. Your journey will lead you to the Tshivanga Kahuzi-Biega National Park headquarters. This park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts a rich variety of flora and fauna within its tropical forest expanse. The park’s remarkable landscape is dominated by the presence of two breathtaking extinct volcanoes, Kahuzi and Biega.
Within this environment, you’ll find one of the few remaining populations of Eastern lowland gorillas, totaling approximately 7,000 individuals. These gorillas inhabit altitudes ranging from 2100 to 2400 meters above sea level. Their ebony fur distinguishes them, while the males develop striking silver backs as they mature. Assisted by skilled rangers and trackers, you’ll have the opportunity to approach these rare primates. Although the trek might extend over several hours, encountering these creatures in their natural habitat stands as an awe-inspiring and unparalleled experience.
After the trek you will transfer back to the lodge.

Day 3: Rizizi – Bujumbura
