About Uganda National Park Uganda has ten national parks. Eight of them are found in the western region of the country. These include Mgahinga Gorilla Park, Mountain Rwenzori Park, Bwindi forest park, Kibale Park, plus Lake Mburo park, Queen Elizabeth Park is most popular , Semiliki Valley, Murchison fall is the biggest, and then Kidepo Valley found in Northern Region, as well as Mountain Elgon found in Eastern Region
The world’s strongest waterfall
This park sits on the shore of Lake Albert, and surrounded within four districts Nwoya, Bulisa Kiryandongo and Masindi in northwest Uganda. However, it’s known for waterfalls, where the Victoria Nile River surge through narrow gap over a massive drop.
Furthermore, the park wild has elephants and hippos, as well as chimpanzees in the kaniyo Pabid mahogany forest. Meanwhile, Lake Albert Delta is a home to rare shoebill storks . Furthermore, there is also game fish in the cascades of Karuma falls. it’s area is covered with 3,893km2 and is the largest and protected in Uganda. This park is known for its powerful waterfall in the world’s longest river
ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
A medley of wonders
Queen Elizabeth is placed in southwest of about 400km away from Kampala lying between lakes George and Albert. Meanwhile, its also found in several districts that include Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi , and Rukungiri. it covers 1978km2.
In addition to, Queen Elizabeth is known for its African elephants, African buffalo, Ugandan Kobs, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, plus, leopard, spotted hyena as well as lion. Overall, the park is home to 95 mammal types and over 600 bird types.
BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
The Ultimate Gorilla experience
Bwindi forest is placed in south-western Uganda, at the junction of the plain and mountain forest. this Park covers an area of 331 km2. it is with more than 160 types of trees and over 100 types of ferns. It also keeps raining throughout the year round and a home to 430 mountain gorillas which is half of the folk in the world
KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK.
True African wildness
Kidepo valley known for its wildlife that includes over 76 mammal types and recognized as the second end in Uganda with 480 bird types. Meanwhile, it covers an area of 1442km2, placed in karenga, Karamoja in Northern Region.
KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
The Primate Capital of the World
Kibale Forest is a rain forest area in Uganda where travelers travel to engage in Chimpanzee walking Safaris since its a home of more than 1200 East African chimpanzees. it covers an area of 776km2, and also found in the Kabarole district in western region.
Kibale National Park contains one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. its forest cover intersperses with patches of grassland and swamps, as well as ruling the northern and central parts of the park on an elevated plateau.
MOUNTAIN ELGON NATIONAL PARK
The World’s largest Caldera
Mountain Elgon is located on a border of Uganda and Kenya. Mountain Elgon is an extinct shield volcano with 4000km2. Furthermore, its the largest volcanic base in the world that covers an area of 1279 km2 while Uganda covers 1110 km2 while Kenyan part covers 169 km2. However, there are waterfalls, caves, tree hyraxes, Rocks and many activities.
MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK
Where Gold Meets Silver
Mgahinga Gorilla park located in Kisoro district in south western Uganda. it covers 33.9km2. This National Park is known for having 30 mountain Gorillas although are free to cross the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and DRC as well as golden monkey tracking, volcano climbing and Batwa trail.
LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Whispers Of the Wild
Nevertheless, this Park is in kyabushozi county, kiruhura district near Mbarara in western. This is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national park. It is home to 350 bird types as well as a variety of wildlife. It covers an area of 260 km2.
SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK
The True Birders Haven
Semiliki located in Bwamba county in Bundibugyo western Uganda. it covers an area of 220km2 . This National park has chimpanzee, African buffalo, leopard, bush babies, African civet, as well as African elephant among others. The distance between Kampala and Semiliki is 286km so it will take 4-5 hours on the way. Semiliki shows 40% of total bird types with 441 types as well as various types of wildlife.
RWENZORI MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
The Mystical Challenge
Mountain Rwenzori located in Kasese district in western on the border of Uganda and DRC. It covers an area of 998km2. The highest peak of the Rwenzori reaches 5,109 meters. Its known as mountain of the moon since Greek explorers tried to locate the source of the Nile. Mountain Rwenzori National Park has more attractions such as chimpanzee and white Colobus monkey, Vegetation, Mountain snow Peak, Lake Bujuka, and others.
